INTRODUCTION

Physiology is the study of the biological processes that support life. This branch of medical science is considered as the crux of all the medical subjects. It underpins possibilities for breakthroughs in specialized areas of study in various branches of medical sciences. The Physiology department of Government Medical College Seoni was started functioning in 2024 with a distinct goal of commitment for excellence in academics. The academics in the department is aimed to impart the student comprehensive knowledge and understanding of normal physiology of human body and to foster the development of skills needed for conceptual understanding of physiological basis of disease. The department is located on the 1st floor of the medical college building and has infrastructure adequate to cater the need of one hundred undergraduate admissions per year. There are three laboratories in the department namely Human, Haematology, Mammalian and Amphibian. To promote research aptitude in the students the department is well equipped with equipments and instruments used for research purposes such as Gas analyser, Polygraphs, Computerized Spirometer, Digital Physiographs, NCV/EMG machine, Power labs etc. The dedicated team of faculty members is engaged in imparting knowledge of physiology in student centric approach. They have adopted recent modern teaching –learning techniques of teaching and training such as use of e- learnings, animation, skill development as well as OSPE/OSCE, OSLER , Hybrid PBL etc. These faculties are also credited with the research articles of repute which were appeared in the National and International journals in the past. Services provided by the department: Departmental research lab has facilities for: Autonomic Function Tests, • Heart rate variability (HRV), Nerve conduction Studies, Repetitive nerve stimulation studies, H & F reflex studies, Electromyography (EMG) ,Electro Encephalography (EEG), Electrocardiography(ECG), Auditory & Visual evoked potentials ,Somatosensory evoked potentials, Computerized Spirometry etc.
